Chairwoman Klobuchar, Ranking Member Blunt Announce Rules Committee Hearing on the Need to Reform the Electoral Count Act

Hearing will examine proposed legislation to update the Electoral Count Act

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Roy Blunt (R-MO), Chairwoman and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration with oversight of federal elections, announced that the Committee will hold a hearing next Wednesday, August 3rd entitled “The Electoral Count Act: The Need for Reform.” The hearing will examine the need to update the Electoral Count Act and recent legislative proposals. 

The Rules Committee will hear testimony from Bob Bauer, Professor of Practice and Distinguished Scholar in Residence at New York University School of Law; John M. Gore, Partner at Jones Day; Ambassador (ret.) Norman Eisen, Senior Fellow, Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution; Derek T. Muller, Professor of Law at the University of Iowa School of Law; and Janai Nelson, President and Director-Counsel, at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), who led the working group, will also testify.
